Synopsis
The greatest hero, fighting back the pain and absurdity of the times with all his body and mind, and trying to open the path to true peace.
‘An Jung-Geun’ has lived and fought against Japanese forces in Vladivostok. He exiles himself to Vladivostok to join in with the armed resistance against the Japanese colonial rulers. He gets appointed a lieutenant general of an armed Korean resistance group and leads several attacks against Japanese forces before his eventual defeat.
On the other side of the struggle, ‘Sul-Hee’ – the last maid of Empress Myeongseong –, gathers information and helps the resistance working as a geisha near the Japanese colonial rulers.
In October 1909, ‘An Jung-Geun’ passes the Imperial Japanese guards at the Harbin Railway Station where Itō Hirobumi arrives. ‘An Jung-Geun’ shoots Itō on the railway platform. After the shooting, ‘An Jung-Geun’ yells out for Korean independence in Russian, stating “Korea! Ura! (Корея! Ура!)”, and waving the Korean flag.
